My Midterm Reactions and Etc.
Ahhhh! This week's been kind of a rough one, but I'm over the bump (hump?)!
Architectural Graphics - doing good, just keeping up with different orthographic and isographic drawing exercises. The last one I've got a good hold on - it's a 30º-60º view of a tiled tower with windows, gates, ramps, and recesses.
Construction Materials - I was soooooo worried about this exam. I thought the stuff was over my head and I felt completely daunted with the reading material. Four chapters in our twenty pound textbook, about fifty pages each all about stuff dealing with concrete. Each chapter had about a hundred vocabulary terms (no kidding!). Anyway, when I got the test I just plugged away at it. I guess I've grown accustomed to university level testing and expected the worst. Luckily, I know how to take tests after watching lots of people take them!
Testing Center - it's been a busy week! Yesterday I worked almost a straight nine hours. Which is fine by me, cuz I'm so dang poor! (Here's hoping I get some scholarship money I applied for last week!)
Intro to Cad - I'm predicting this class is gonna be pretty tough for me. I'm a Mac-man, and I have to relearn all these stupid Windows commands. I'm having a hard time with the mouse with all those little buttons on it!
Intro to Architecture - Handed in my paper on Italian architect Renzo Piano on Monday and then today I was to give my powerpoint presentation on him. Luckily, I was going to be last and then divine fate intervened. I got up to the front, and I was going to load my disc into the drive, but then some guy who gave his presentation earlier remembered he left his disc in and came up to get it - but the disc drive wouldn't open up!!! They tried everything to get it out and by this time all of the other students were getting restless. Our instructor said if they had to leave they could and half the class got up and left which I thought was awesome! And more time went by and the disc drive wasn't budging. I told him to kick it, the teacher laughed and said nope, I'd probably have to give my show next Monday! Shucks! Anyways, I'm taking this as a sign to revamp my presentation. This was a way for a higher power to tell me that I could do better, and I'm not gonna let the opportunity go to waste!
Tomorrow I'm spending the entire day with the Architecture Club in Chicago. We're going to tour Frank Lloyd Wright's first home and studio, the Unity Church he designed, and we're going to take a boat tour of the downtown buildings. Yay!
Then on Friday I'm headed back to Covance for yet another health study! Friday is the day where, they call in like 45 people and keep 36 and cut the rest. Here's hoping I'm healthy enough to become a human guinea pig. *SQUEAK!*
