Accidental Tourist

Yesterday I decided to take a quick bike-ride to the nearby Goodwill Store and somehow I ended up in the Madison suburb of Sun Prairie! Here is a photo-journal of my adventure!

On the bike path that I've have only seen, before, from my car along Hwy. 151 on my way to Beaver Dam

Like wild horses, wind blowing through my beautiful mane- Roar!

Sun Prairie is vast and can be beautiful. Home of many future lot lizards.

The lines between Madison and its burbs are blurring.

I'm glad to see multi-use development being built- but saddened, that like other sprawl, it's sitting on now-former farmland.

I made it to Sun Prairie proper and happened upon its new library building.

A haven for readers, a church of literacy!

Aqua-Jeff!

Shhhhhh!!!!!!

Shhhhh!!!!! Again! (The walls are golden too...great interior design plan!)

Behind the library lies a creek...

Having a Monet moment.

A view from the park.

Down the road at another park- the Firemen's Park.

What a ding-dong!

Sun Prairie has been working on an ambitious redevelopment of their downtown. Mixed-use zoning and development is providing a beacon of hope for businesses, as well as providing an excellent chance for bringing people to the core of the city to work, live, and play. Instead of just sprawling outward (which is unfortunately happening) they have taken over former brownfield (industrial area) sites and replaced them with a vibrant centralized community. Hurray!

Their historic downtown watertower.

I took over a hundred photos on this trip- really!

Local Hanley Hardware going out of business.

Hanley reminds me of this SNL clip!

My tummy was a rumbling and I was so happy to fill it with ice-cream!

Photo taken seconds before a pair of bad mommies entered with their bratty tots. Next time they go out in public, they should take special mommy classes.

Next time I will go to Sir Hobo's fine dining.

Cute little motel shed-style rooms! My grandma once stayed in one of these.

Strip-Mall photo fun!

An abandoned farm-house off of Hwy 151 bound to be torn down and redeveloped.

Smith's Crossing.

Coming back to Madison.

The capitol building is fucking beautiful!

No pictures of my cute lil' sunburn!
